History:
The Goblin, which was not observed by Terran forces until the REF started scouting out remaining belligerent forces in the remains of the Tirolian Mercantile Empire, was the main surface-to-air missile of the Zentraedi and the Empire, and replaced all previous such missiles. Launched from fixed emplacements as well as from mobile launchers, this missile is easily confused with the Granite, but despite the higher Terran designation (SAA-2 vs. SAA-1), the Goblin actually precedes the Granite and is, in fact, its direct predecessor. This also explains the close resemblance of the two missiles.
Externally, the Goblin possesses a seeker head followed by the warhead, fuel, intake and engine sections, with the radar aerials mounted on the overcaliber engine section. There is a standard conventional version and a nuclear version, which has some anti-starship and ground-to- ground capabilities.
