The Cobra was the SC complement to the RMS-2 Angel of Death missiles used by the RDF and REF. Somewhat smaller that the older missiles, the Cobra came in conventional versions as well as nuclear. The Cobra was used almost exclusively on the Chimera fighters as an alternative to the RMS-2; the main advantage being that the Chimera could carry far more Cobras than RMS-2s. Equipped thus, the fighter could unleash a more numerous and potentially more devastating barrage than with the RMS-2 missiles, in addition being capable to do this multiple times.
With the passing of the Southern Cross and the Chimera fighters, the Cobra was no longer used by regular forces. In recent days, though, the Cobra concept has been mentioned as the possible successor to the RMS-2 missiles. No definite decision has been announced either way, however.
