Designation: SCAR Bloodhound

The Bloodhound was the main long range ground-to-air missile of the Southern Cross' Civil Defense Armies. Designed in 2025, the Bloodhound combined hypervelocity speeds with extremely accurate and ECCM capable guidance systems, long range and a powerful warhead. A truly superb missile of its kind, the Bloodhounds' performance was skewed because neither of its two principal foes, the Robotech Masters and the Invid, used weapons or tactics suited to a long range SAM.

Although the missile was considered by the other armies, it was not procured by them as they preferred the combination of mobile mecha and medium range missile systems such as the Swordfish surface-to-air missile.

The Bloodhound is built with a booster section and a missile section. The booster accelerates the missile to its speed, after which the ramjet sustainer holds that speed until interception. The booster section is cylindrical with four strakes and small fins at the end, the missile itself is conical, again with four fins.

The Bloodhound was used with little success against the Tirolian Forces, which were equipped with excellent anti-missile systems. They were used with more success against the Invid, although, because of their numerical advantage, with even less effect on the outcome of the hostilities.
