Oddly enough, the Invid never developed a small arm in their entire history until 2042, as the Regess began to anticipate the transmutation of her race into the humanoid Solugi. Prior to this time, the Invid had relied entirely on the Malar Power armor to provide their troops with infantry strength. The main reason for this is the extreme delicacy of the original Invid body, and its great susceptibility to trauma and extremes of temperature and humidity. But in the sturdier humanoid form, the Invid Regess began to anticipate her people operating, at least to some extent, out in the open without armor even before the completion of her plans to replace Earth's indigenous people with her own. To fill the need for a defensive arm, the Invid created a particle beam pistol, basing the new weapon's internal mechanism on captured examples of the Mars Gallant H-90. However, instead of using ejectable capacitors, the entire grip of the pistol formed a single protoculture battery - and the handle section, including the trigger, formed the removable magazine. This weapon was only used for a year and a half by the Regess' Invid before they departed Earth, though it was kept in service by the Australian Solugi Hegemony under Regent Kharoth until 2049, after which the Invid began to purchase the Gallant as a replacement for this weapon.
